Scotland - Who Cares? is a heritage project which s being delivered by Neo Productions a BAME company based in Edinburgh. This project aims to safeguard and preserve the heritage of Scotland’s black community by using media and the arts to commemorate the significant contribution of black care workers against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Very few platforms are available for Scotland’s black community’s stories to be told. As a result of this, very few cultural productions are created by them and with them in mind. This project will break the silence that has pervaded Scottish society for generations and provide a critical platform for black carers to raise their voice and be heard by wider Scottish society about their crucial contribution during one of the most life-altering periods in modern history.
We will produce a documentary that captures all of these care workers’ stories into a single narrative and national archive. The Scotland - Who Cares? documentary and booklet will be made available on our website as a permanent record of the contribution of black carers to Scotland during the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to ensure that audiences worldwide are able to access this important piece of Scottish history.
